About MoonSleeve — The Origin
MoonSleeve was not born in noise or haste—it emerged quietly, like moonlight spilling over the folds of a silk sleeve.
The idea took shape during a midnight stroll through an old water-town, where reflections of lanterns swayed in the canal. In that stillness, we saw the beauty that once flowed through ancient garments: the way fabric breathed, the way a sleeve brushed the air, the unspoken elegance of a slower age.
We are not historians. Not costumers. We are modern wanderers, longing to weave the grace of traditional Chinese attire into the rhythm of contemporary life.
The name “MoonSleeve” comes from an image in our minds—sleeves so soft and flowing, they could catch the light of the moon. It’s a name that speaks of gentleness, quiet strength, and a timeless connection between past and present.
The Design Approach
Our designs don’t simply combine “traditional elements.” We search for silhouettes with soul—garments that move with you, breathe with you. You’ll find reimagined ruqun, softened bijia, graceful mamian skirts, and the airy drape of pibo. They are not confined to one dynasty, but inspired by many.
Putting on Hanfu or other traditional-inspired attire should feel as natural as slipping into your favorite coat. At MoonSleeve, we create livable poetry—ancient grace, shaped for modern comfort.

MoodSleeve
The Philosophy
At MoonSleeve, clothing is more than appearance—it is a memory you can wear.
Each piece is not a “costume,” but a living bridge between eras. A language of texture and form. A way to reclaim calm and elegance in a restless world.
We don’t aim to re-create history stitch by stitch, nor to chase short-lived trends. Instead, we speak with the past in a modern voice. Our garments are for daily life, for real moments—not just staged photographs.
For Whom
MoonSleeve is for anyone who:
- Feels an emotional pull toward Chinese tradition and artistry;
- Loves classical aesthetics but isn’t sure where to begin;
- Wants to move through the world with a touch of stillness and grace.
- Whether you live in Beijing, London, Kyoto, or New York—when you wear MoonSleeve, you’ll carry a beauty that needs no translation.
The Vision
We are not here for a passing fashion wave. MoonSleeve is the seed of a lifestyle—a slower, more intentional way of living, rooted in beauty and memory.
One day, our vision will grow beyond garments—into accessories, tea wares, home décor, and other creations. Everything we make will honor the same belief:
“For those who live slowly, choose quietly, and dress with care—we make things worth keeping.”
